As expected for a Motorola radio in this class, the DP4401Ex ATEX is IP67 rated for dust and water ingress. In the harshest working environments, your radio will be dust-proof and can be submersed in up to one metre of water for up to thirty minutes with no ill effects.
Usability and safety focus
The radio is easy to use, even with gloves on, having an ergonomic design, an intuitive user interface and programmable buttons.
The DP4401Ex ATEX is packed with features to keep workers safe and connected, wherever they are:
Man Down
The Man Down feature is a potentially life-saving feature on the Motorola DP4401 Ex that uses an accelerometer to detect a worker's movements and vertical position. If the radio user suffers a fall, an alarm is triggered to a response group with the worker's name or radio ID, allowing them to respond appropriately.
Lone Worker
The Lone Worker function is an additional feature for team members working on their own in potentially dangerous situations. The worker is reminded to press the Push-to-Talk button at set intervals to check-in and assure supervisors that they are OK. An alarm is generated if the worker does not push the button in the pre-defined time period.
Emergency button
If an incident occurs, a radio user can press the emergency button on their radio to trigger an alarm back to the dispatch office. The alarm can be automatically forwarded as a text message or email. The supervisor is able to pinpoint the worker's exact location and take the appropriate action.
Integrated GPS
Global Positioning System (GPS) uses satellites to triangulate a radio user's exact position and transmit that back to a repeater or base station. The user can then be located quickly and easily, improving response times in an emergency and promoting efficiency in your mobile workforce. Integrated GPS is a standard feature of the Motorola DP4401 Ex. Find out more about Motorola's integrated GPS capability.
Transmit Interrupt
Transmit Interrupt is a feature on the DP4401 Ex that allows high priority transmissions to cut across normal priority calls, clearing the channel for important announcements when a message has to get through immediately. It can also be used to take back control of a transmission when a mistake has been made, or to refocus or re-task your team's efforts.
A longer list of key features is included in the list below.
With 32 channels, calls between groups or individuals makes communication easy, with the radio available with either UHF or VHF frequency bands. Three programmable buttons help you carry out oft-repeated functions quickly and easily. Audio quality is best-in-class, with a front-facing speaker and loud audio that automatically adjusts the radio volume depending on the noise level around you.
The DP4401Ex ATEX also benefits from excellent battery life - you can expect 19 hours battery life in digital mode, or 16 hours in analogue mode.
An even higher spec version of the DP4401Ex ATEX is available in the form of the Motorola DP4801Ex ATEX, a radio that includes LCD display, full keypad and up to 1,000 channels.
